Rajesh was suffering for quiet long due to his drinking habit and negligence lifestyle and was admitted twice in the month of April in Lilavati Hospital.

Rajesh Khanna delivered 15 consecutive super hit films to the Indian cinema. He was rewarded by Filmfare Special Award in 1991 to set a record 106 movie in 25 years as a lead actor. Another Filmfare Lifetime Achievement award was given to him in 1966. He won Filmfare award thrice in his career.
Rajesh was a great actor and he also produced movies like Alag Alag (1985), Police ke peeche police (1989), Jai Shiv Shankar (1990) and co-produced movies Mehboob ki Mehndi (1971), Roti(1974) and Barsaat(1995).
Apart from films, he also contributed to the Political scenario. He even held Lok Sabha seat as a Congress MP in 1992 to 1996.
Even the Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh expressed their grief on the death of Rajesh Khanna.
